The police is going through the screenshots of chats and will soon call the group members for questioning. Most of the members of these WhatsApp groups are affiliated to Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
An investigation by India Today has revealed that most of the members of these WhatsApp groups have either switched-off their numbers or have destroyed the SIM cards.
One of the groups, under the banner of "Friends Of RSS", has several text exchanges about the planning of the attack and how to bring outsiders inside JNU campus for the violence, as er the WhatsApp group.
